ignore the tear. the bookworm's worst nightmare. |
The book follows Jake Barnes, a regular chum, as he meets new people, vacations in Spain with friends, and simply lives life as one does in the post-World War I generation.
This book shows "an age of moral bankruptcy, spiritual dissolution, unrealized love, and vanishing illusions."
I really enjoyed reading this. It was simple, yet meaningful and I suppose that's what makes Hemingway so great. I definitely recommend reading this. It's a classic.
Have you read The Sun Also Rises? What did you think about it?
although this book is on my to-read list, i haven't gotten around to reading it yet. in fact, i'd forgotten about it. haha. but now i'm definitely going to have to find this somewhere and read it. i'm always on the lookout for more books, and i'm glad you reminded me of this classic. ;) Hemingway writes like no one else; his words are truly timeless.
