You know the season. This is the time to celebrate friends, family, community, and love. This is the time when we are happy to give our time, our money, our home to others. Why is this?
Why do we make such a big deal of giving during one month of the year?
To the Christians out there, we give to others because we recognize what Jesus gave to us during this season. We go through the story of Christ's birth, crucifixion, and resurrection multiple times during this month.
Why do we only tell of his magnificent birth/act in excess during the holidays? Why not all the time? Why not everyday of our lives?
So many times we (me included) look at Jesus's life and what he did as an act to save us, end of story. And yes, it most definitely was an act to save us, but it was more than that. Christ didn't just do what he did for us, he ultimately did it for the Father.
Christmas, under all its twinkly lights and flamboyant gift wrappings, is truly a celebration of our God in heaven and Jesus's birth. Christ came for the Father, to carry out His plan, and bring glory to His name.
I hope one day we can truly understand his life in ways we have never known and be changed by it more than we already have.
Hoping you have a wonderful holiday season.
With Love,
Sarah.
