This review has been long over due. In fact, I read this about six months ago. However, I still would like to share my thoughts on this book and my opinion of the story it holds.
To start off, I must tell you that I did not like this book.
The writing was good, but the plot and the story line was eh. Some parts I felt were unneeded and a little inappropriate, but of course, we all have different degrees of what we perceive as crossing the line.
The story follows Miles Halter, better known as "Pudge", as he tries and finds a life more fulfilling than the one he left at home. He moves to a boarding school and ends up befriending Alaska Young. Alaska, I did not like. She was selfish, manipulative, and wouldn't confide in her friends who obviously cared for her. She annoyed me quite a lot, but I suppose that's something different that John Green brought to the table: an unlikable main character.
Looking for Alaska is the only book I've read of John Green's. I did not care for it very much, but I will most definitely read more of his books and see what he has in store for his readers.
xx. Sarah.
also, be ready for another blog post on my most recent read: the sun also rises by ernest hemingway.
